Sotto family's move northward bears fruit as 6'11" Kai now rising in Katipunan
FAMILY TIES. Already carrying the burden of expectations in his early teen years, Kai Sotto is thankful to have his entire family with him.
At only 14-years-old and already standing six-feet 11-inches tall, things are looking up and up for Kai Sotto.
Still, the fact remains that bigger and bigger things are expected of him – and he’s just in his early years as a teen.
Thankfully for the kid, the burden of expectations isn’t being carried by him alone.
As it turns out, the entire Sotto family moved from Las Pinas to Quezon City following Kai’s transfer from St. Francis of Assisi to Ateneo de Manila High School. “Lumipat po yung buong family namin kaya ‘di ako nagdo-dorm (with the team). Ganun po kaya napakaswerte ko na kasama ko pa rin sila,” he shared.
Yes, former pro Ervin, mother Pam, and Kai’s two siblings are all with him in their new family home near Katipunan.
Of course, all of them are helping their towering teen out. “Siyempre po, maraming naging adjustment – sa pag-aaral, sa transportation, sa surroundings. Pero yung family ko naman po, lagi akong ginagabayan,” he said.
Along with the Sottos, Kai has found another support system in the Blue Eaglets who have welcomed him with open arms. “Unang punta ko pa lang po sa Ateneo, sabi ko na, maganda rito kasi grabe yung welcome sa akin ng teammates ko pati sina coach,” he said.
He then continued, “Lalo na nung (UAAP) season na mismo, lalong naging close yung bonding naming lahat.”
