Aces roll to another impressive win

Alaska has been near-flawless to start the 2017 Commissioner's Cup.
Still so far so good for the Aces in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
Alaska joined defending champion Rain or Shine and Meralco at the top of the standings early i nthe mid-season conference after scoring a convincing 109-95 victory over a struggling Blackwater side Wednesday at the Big Dome.
Taking a second straight win in as many games, the Aces are on top right now with two other teams with a clean 2-0 slate.
"It's great to start the season 2-0 and play with some energy," head coach Alex Compton said. "It's a total team effort. I'm just proud of the guys."
Alaska started to slowly pull away in the second quarter before really opening the floodgates in the third.
With Cory Jefferson once again leading the charge, the Aces led by as much as 21 points, 72-51, in the second half.
Jefferson, whose had three practices with Alaska since arriving in the country last week, finished with 28 points, 20 in the last two quarters, and 15 rebounds.
The local support was adequate for the Aces as well as five players scored at least 9 points with rookie Carl Bryan Cruz on top of the list with 15 off the bench.
Coming off a sorry double-overtime loss to Phoenix over the weekend, the Elite now drop to 0-2 in the Commissioner's Cup.
Reil Cervantes led Blackwater with 21 points while import Greg Smith, who debuted with a 30-30 game, was limited to only 14 points and 16 rebounds after fouling out at the 7:26 mark of the fourth period.
