Alab Pilipinas is headed into the playoffs of the 2016-2017 Asean Basketball League with back-to-back wins.
More than that, they are entering their semifinals showdown with additional firepower in tow.
Nearly a month after his inclusion into the lineup, Kiefer Ravena is poised to make his debut for the Filipino side on Sunday at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.
There, the two-time UAAP MVP will team up with another two-time MVP in Ray Parks Jr. as they lead third-seed Philippines against second-seed Singapore.
Ravena’s big-time boost for Alab’s chances is a much-welcome development for head coach Mac Cuan who celebrated his birthday just last Sunday. “Kiefer is a proven winner. He will really help us out in closing out games,” he said.
He then continued, “Kaya ang ganda ng birthday gift ko e.”
Cuan then went on to share that the 23-year-old’s right hand is all good and he will be, at long last, playing his first game in the ABL. “Sana nga birthday ko ulit sa April 2,” he kidded, talking about Game 1 of their best-of-three series against the Slingers.
The Filipinos split their four elimination round meetings with Singapore.
With Ravena set to steady the backcourt rotation, Cuan and company are nothing but confident they can upend the second-seeded squad.
