"I think he fits the team. In spite of him arriving yesterday, I think he really performed well. I think he's only going to be better." --- Franz Pumaren on Malcolm White.
In the end, Globalport pulled the trigger and sent Sean Williams home, opting to bring in Malcolm White as the team's new import for the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
Despite the change however, the Batang Pier still can't find ways to win, losing another onw at the hands of Blackwater Saturday, their fourth straight.
But still, head coach Franz Pumaren is starting to see some positives with his team as the mid-season conference rolls on.
For one, Globalport is finally got import-like numbers from its import.
"We've got a good import. I think we can use that as a springboard and probably minor adjustment on approach of the game," Pumaren said of White who finished with 33 points and 17 rebounds for the Batang Pier despite arriving only one day prior to the Elite game.
"I think he fits the team. In spite of him arriving yesterday, I think he really performed well. I think he's only going to be better," Pumaren added.
Another thing going for Globalport despite the losses is that it appears Terrence Romeo is finally healthy overall.
The Bro recorded a new career-high of nine threes made against Blackwater, scoring a team-high 35 points.
"Of course that helped us, but at the end of the day, we still lost the game," Pumaren said.
"Important is it should be a collective effort. It should be a team production in terms of not only points, but overall performance," he added.
