"We're in the gym three hours a day, I get up at least 250 shots at practice. It's all about repetition and confidence." --- Kelly Nabong.
Meralco has been absolutely playing well in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup so far, owning one of the league's best record with six wins in seven games.
And coming off their Holy Week break to play an Easter Sunday game before going on a long 17-day hiatus, the Bolts re-introduced another weapon that could be of great use down the line in the mid-season conference.
Forward Kelly Nabong joined the team's scoring options Sunday night, dropping 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds in Meralco's come-from-behind win over Blackwater.
Nabong's production was particularly felt in the fourth quarter as he single-handedly matched the Elite's 11 points in the payoff period, mostly through mid-range Js that Blackwater didn't really respect.
"I practice that everyday," Nabong said on his sweet stroke from mid-range.
"We're in the gym three hours a day, I get up at least 250 shots at practice. It's all about repetition and confidence," he added.
After a breakout performance, Nabong is ready to do more for the Bolts provided head coach Norman Black keeps on giving him opportunities to contribute.
"Most definitely. If coach Norman gives me the chance, I'll take it and run with it," he said.
Coming into a another long break, Nabong expects his squad to remain on top shape shape as the Bolts get ready for another chance at a title after missing out in the last Governors' Cup and struggling in the All-Filipino.
"The 17-day break, I love it. The challenge is try to stay in shape and not let up a little bit," Nabong said.
"Our goal is to be in the Finals and win in the Finals," he added.
