Fajardo goes scoreless for the second-time ever in the PBA
Fajardo played just a shade under nine minutes against Mahindra, scoring zero points after missing four shots. He also had zero rebounds, zero assists, and one turnover. He sat out the entire second half.

Something rare happened Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome as San Miguel Beer made quick work of Mahindra in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.

For the first time in what seems like forever, reigning three-time league MVP June Mar Fajardo didn't play close to 40 minutes.

Not only that, the Kraken actually went scoreless agains the Floodbuster, the first time in four years and only the second instance it happened throughout his PBA career.

Fajardo played just a shade under nine minutes against Mahindra, scoring zero points after missing four shots. He also had zero rebounds, zero assists, and one turnover. He sat out the entire second half.

The last time Fajardo laid an egg on the court, it was March 1, 2013 in a game against Air21 Express. He played 18 minutues and went 0-of-4 for zero points and four boards.

Despite a scoreless outing, Fajardo could not care less as the Beermen keep winning in the mid-season joust.

"Panalo eh," Fajardo said after San Miguel rolled to its fourth straight victory.

Meanhwile, head coach Leo Austria saw the Mahindra game as a perfect opportunity to give his star center some time off.

The decision made too much sense as the Beermen jumped on the Floodbuster early before eventually cruising to a 29-point win.

"June Mar kailaingan namin i-rest, medyo bugbog siya. Alam naman natin the past few conferences ay talagang bugbog siya," Austria said.

"Ngayon nagkaroon siya ng opportunity na magpahinga. He's been practicing with us and with Gilas so we want to prepare him for bigger games, especially dito sa SEABA, kailangan paghandaan niya," he added.
