Five in a row for Charles Rhodes and the San Miguel Beermen.
Yeah it's gonna take a near-perfect record to beat San Miguel.
The Beermen extended their perfect Commissioner's Cup run to five games, taking an easy 111-98 victory over defending champion Rain or Shine Saturday at the MOA Arena.
After a close opening quarter, it was basically all San Miguel the rest of the way as the Beermen eased into a 5-0 record heading to the All-Star break.
Maintaining a 10-point lead in the fourth period, the Beermen dropped the final hammer in the form of a 10-0 run to take a commanding 20-point advantage, 95-75, with six minutes to go.
San Miguel led by as many as 22, 108-86, before cruising to the final buzzer.
Import Charles Rhodes had another strong offensive game for San Miguel, going for 26 points and 6 rebounds while six other locals also finished in double digits.
Gabby Espinas came off the bench to drop 15 while Alex Cabagnot and June Mar Fajardo each scored 14 points.
"Actually it's not easy to get win no. 5 especially with this game. In the start, our big men got into foul trouble especially Charles Rhodes," head coach Leo Austria said.
"But in the history of our team, everytime he gets into foul trouble, he still manages to stay in the game and score a lot," he added.
The Elasto Painters, who limp into another break after losing three of their last four games, got 24 points from Shawn Taggart.
Maverick Ahanmisi and Jeff Chan added 16 apiece for ROS who now sports a 4-3 record.
