Star to evaluate Tony Mitchell's performance

Star head coach Chito Victolero will evaluate import Tony Mitchell to determine if the explosive former NBA veteran is what's good for business.
Star is more than halfway through its 2017 Commissioner's Cup campaign.
That means it's time to evaluate the team's import despite the fact that the Hotshots are currently 5-2 heading to the All-Star break.
Tony Mitchell has been a steady force for Star in the mid-season joust. The latest proof is him scoring 17 points on 66 percent shooting against Blackwater, he also grabbed 15 rebounds in the win.
However, the NBA veteran also had six turnovers and fouled out anew, a fact that makes head coach Chito Victolero think a little bit.
"Honestly, hindi pa rin [satisfied] kasi na-foul trouble na naman siya at fouled out na naman. Yun lang ang kailangang mai-adjust ni Tony, how to play defense na di niya kailangan ma-foul," Victolero said.
Considering the Hotshots have put a premium on defense under Victolero's reign, Mitchell getting disqualified due to fouls is turning into a legitimate concern for the team moving forward.
"Hopefully, yung break na to, I will show him tapes para mapanood niya kung paano siya napa-foul kasi kailangan namin siya sa game," Victolero added.
With the playoffs right around the corner, the first-year Star coach insists that import evaluation is just a natural thing to do for PBA teams.
As contenders start to position themselves for favorable seeding position, it's only right to think about what's going to be best for business.
It doesn't mean Mitchell is on the hot seat already though that's for sure.
"Kung tingin namin na si Tony yung makakapagdala sa amin sa playffs, he will stay," Victolero said.
"As of now, ayoko muna mag-isip. Gusto ko muna mapahinga kasi pagod din. Tingan natin, after the week siguro," he added.
