Birthday boy Brownlee thankful for Ginebra's love
Once it was revealed to him that his teammates made an effort to let him walk out with a W on his special day, Brownlee, the import that led the PBA's most famous team to a championship after eight long years, was appreciative.

Turns out it was Justin Brownlee's 29th birthday Sunday.

Brgy. Ginebra made sure its import had a great one as the Gin Kings dropped the hammer in the second half to win their titanic showdown against TNT KaTropa at the Big Dome.

Once it was revealed to him that his teammates made an effort to let him walk out with a W on his special day, Brownlee, the import that led the PBA's most famous team to a championship after eight long years, was appreciative.

"I'm not too familiar in my past games [during birthdays] if I won or lost anything but this birthday was definitely a special one," Brownlee said who wound up with 34 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists in the Gin Kings' 18-point victory over the KaTropa.

"The way the team embraced me, for them to dedicate this game to me, that alone is special," he added.

Aside from winning on Brownlee's birthday, Ginebra's victory was also the team's fourth in a row in the mid-season conference.

However, with two tournament interruptions coming up, the Gin Kings are only scheduled to play one game for the next 25 days.

With Ginebra on a roll, the long break has Brownlee a little bit but he trusts his team enough that he knows it's not going to be too big of an issue.

"Not playing maybe can throw you off your rhythm a little bit but I'm sure we're going to be practicing," he said.

"We still got a lot to grow, the good thing is we haven't hit our ceiling, we're still getting better and better. I think with the days we don't play, it allows us to just only get better," Brownlee added.
