Victolero hopes 'security agency' gives Gilas a challenge
Naturally, making his first trip to the All-Star games, this time as a head coach in charge of the Mindanao squad at Cagayan De Oro city, Victolero is excited and ready to roll.

Chito Victolero is getting a big-time opportunity this week as the first-year Star head coach is officially part of the PBA All-Star festivities.

It's literally a new experience for Victolero as he says he never got invited to a single All-Star back when he was playing.

Naturally, making his first trip, this time as a head coach in charge of the Mindanao squad at Cagayan De Oro city, he's excited and ready to roll.

"Very happy kasi first time ko as a coach and first time ko din. Nung player ako, di ko na-experience ang All-Star," Victolero said. "I'm excited pati mga kasama kong players, excited kami."

Victoler's first foray to the annual craziness that is the All-Star Week is unique already as the Philippine national team is involved.

With the 2017 SEABA Championships right around the corner, Gilas Pilipinas has decided to use the All-Star Games as of their final stops before forming the team that competes in the regional tournament hosted by Manila.

Victolero understands that fact and he's glad to help.

"Mage-enjoy kami dun at kailangan namin bigyan ng magandang laban ang Gilas para matulungan din namin sila," he said.

And with a lineup blessed with some of the PBA's best guards, Victolero hopes his Mindanao crew, which has quite a handful of Hotshots, can develop quick chemistry enough to give the national time a little run for its money.

"Puro guards. May security agency ata kami eh, even my starters are all guards," Victolero said who has guys like Mark Barroca, Jio Jalalon, PJ Simon, Scottie Thompson, Carlo Lastimosa, and Baser Amer at his disposal.

"Tignan natin kung paano natin sila ma-utilize at ma-maximize yung talents ng team namin. Sana maging maganda ang chemistry ng team na yun," Victolero added.
