LUCENA CITY --- The 2017 PBA Three-point shootout was decided on the final money ball.
In what was essentially a Manila Clasico Final in the 2017 PBA All-Star Games, Star's Allein Maliksi crowned himself as the league's three-point king, edging out Ginebra's LA Tenorio in a thrilling finish at the Quezon Convention Center here Friday.
After Tenorio set the tone in the final round with 18 points, Maliksi scored 20 points to win the title.
Maliksi made his last two shots, the first to tie Tenorio and then the final money ball to clinch the championship.
Terrence Romeo, who won the last two editions of the tournament, finished third with 17 points. He missed his last money ball attempt that would have allowed him to overtake Tenorio.
The veteran Ginebra playmaker actually topped the preliminary round, scoring 23 points followed by Maliksi with 21.
Romeo barely made it to the final after scoring 18 points, beating out Alaska gunner Simon Enciso's 17.
