Amer continues to power Meralco's Commissioner's Cup surge

Baser Amer has been a major factor in Meralco's current 7-1 run in the Commissioner's Cup so far.
There are two main reasons why Meralco Bolts have a league-best seven wins in the ongoing Commissioner's Cup so far.
Obviously, the first reason is import Alex Stephenson who has solved Meralco's woes at center the same way Arinze Onuaku and Allen Durham did last season.
The second reason is Baser Amer, whose ongoing star turn has the Bolts thinking of making another run at the franchise's first PBA title.
Continuing his breakout conference, the former San Beda Red Lion dropped a cool 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting as Meralco returned from the All-Star break to pound Phoenix Wednesday, scoring a 15-point win.
The victory gave the Bolts an impressive 7-1 card behind only undefeared San Miguel as the team heads to another break to give way to the 2017 SEABA Championships.
"It was another good game for Baser this conference," head coach Norman Black said on his sophomore point guard.
"I keep saying it but he's really coming into his own. He's taken over the leadership [role] of the team on the basketball court and he's been very efficient in the way he's playing offensively and defensively," he added.
With Amer sparking Meralco's current uprising after yet another forgettable Philippine Cup performance, Black couldn't help but praise his young floor general.
He's earned it after all.
"Alex Stephenson is the main reason for our resurgence but Baser has to be up there with him as far as the reasons why we're doing well this conference," Black said.
