Count on Baser to cheer for Gilas despite not making the team

The former San Beda Red Lion is one with the country as Gilas takes the court for the first time this year for the SEABA Championships happening in Manila on May 12-18.
Despite playing the best basketball of his young PBA career, Baser Amer was never really considered to be part of the new Gilas Pilipinas training pool.
While they didn't make the current final 12, there are two players in the Meralco roster that are part of the national team, Amer is not one of them.
Still, despite that fact, the former San Beda Red Lion is one with the country as Gilas takes the court for the first time this year for the SEABA Championships happening in Manila on May 12-18.
Amer will be watching and rooting for Gilas even if that means his mother team loses a bit of momentum as the Commissioner's Cup enters its final stretch in the elimiantion round.
The Bolts currently hold a 7-1 mark and are on the hunt for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
"Okay lang naman kasi nagte-training naman kami and conditioning, ganun talaga, part of basketball yun," Amer said as Meralco heads to another lenghty break in the mid-season conference.
"Kailangan rin natin i-support yung SEABA [team], pag may game sila for sure manonood ako. Kailangan nila ng support namin," he added, talking about the national team.
"Snubbed" from the national team pool, Amer still has dreams of playing for Gilas Pilipinas.
With him anchoring Meralco's electrifying run in the Commissioner's Cup, maybe the Hammer might actually get his chance. Who knows.
"Sana, sana. Pagdasal natin," Amer said.
