ONE AND NOT YET DONE. Coach Egay Macaraya believes San Sebastian can still do so much more after their first win in the preseason.
Now into his second season, head coach Egay Macaraya is nothing but hopeful about the chances of San Sebastian College-Recoletos to return to its former glory.
And of course, the quest to do just that begins in the 2017 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.
The good news is that the Golden Stags have much to be hopeful for after claiming their first win in the preseason, bottling up College of St. Benilde, 76-68, on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Allyn Bulanadi stepped up big with 15 points while Michael Calisaan and RK Ilagan continued to show they are the future of Recto with 15 and 13 markers, respectively.
After a competitive loss to Adamson University, Macaraya and his wards are now in the winners’ circle. “This is about building character. Hopefully, magtuloy-tuloy pa,” Macaraya said.
Indeed, Macaraya believes this is just the beginning for them. “Gusto ko pa lalong bigyan ng exposure yung mga bata namin. Kasi yung mga ganun yung make-carry (over) namin,” Macaraya said.
The Blazers were keeping the contest close after in the earlygoing before Bulanadi ignited a hot-shooting second quarter.
Up 34-26 at the half, Calisaan would then take charge for San Sebastian as their lead blew up to as high as 23.
The Golden Stags would not look back from there and cruised to their first triumph in two tries.
For CSB, Edward Dixon and Yankie Haruna led the way with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Still lacking a consistent scoring punch, however, they incurred the first loss in the new regime under TY Tang.
