Letting go of Mitchell a tough choice for Star

"He's very professional. We love Tony. And I think Tony loves us." --- Star head coach Chito Victolero on Tony Mitchell.
Star made a difficult decision with regards to its 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Hotshots have opted to repalce Tony Mitchell and instead brought Ricardo Ratliffe back in.
The decision worked wonders Wednesday as Star scored a convincing win over rival TNT with Ratliffe taking over.
However, Mitchell, who led Star to a 6-2 record before being replaced, is still in town and is still pretty effective. It just so happens that the Hotshots need the services of Ratliffe more than Mitchell's right now.
The team still loves slam-dunking Mitchell to the moon and back though.
"He's very professional. We love Tony. And I think Tony loves us," head coach Chito Victolero said of Mitchell who was at the MOA Arena to cheer for the Hotshots.
"Makikita naman yung suporta niya sa amin. Even na dumating na si Ricardo, nandyan pa rin siya. He keeps on supporting us. I talked to Tony na if we have a chance again to get him, siguro in the future baka magkasama ulit kami," he added.
With Ratliffe taking over and Mitchell choosing to stay for in the country for now, Star has put the former NBA veteran on the reserve list.
Regardless of how the import situation turns out for the Hotshots however, Star and Mitchell are on good terms with each other.
"Right now, syempre kung healthy si Ricardo, we’ll go all the way with him. Pero si Tony naman, nandyan lagi sa suporta niya eh. I don’t know kung mag-stay pa siya. Syempre, kailangan rin niya magtrabaho," Victolero said.
"I think meron siyang pupuntahan. But, yun nga, everybody loves Tony, even our support staff. Talagang kailangan lang namin si Ricardo," he added.
