SMOOTH SAILING. CJ Perez and LPU impressed for the third time in a row.
Lyceum of the Philippines University just keeps on impressing in the earlygoing of the 2017 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.
The Pirates found themselves the better team for the third straight time after routing University of the East, 96-80, on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre
CJ Perez spearheaded the attack once more with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
Five teammates joined him in double-digits as the Intramuros-based team improved to a league-best 3-0.
Robinson’s boys set the tone right from tip-off and established a 22-8 lead after the opening salvo.
This, even as Perez took some time to get into his groove. “Earlier, when he was missing shots, nag-aapologize siya. I told him he doesn’t need to apologize,” the LPU mentor said.
Come the second half, however, the Pampanga native more than made up for his slow start. “I just told him to keep at it because whether he misses or not, he’s gonna be in the game,” Robinson said.
Mark Olayon paced the Red Warriors with 17 points. Unable to keep up with the surprise squad of the preseason, however, they fell to 2-2.
