Playing at the ripe age of 38, the former ABL champion and MVP says he's just happy to still be contributing for his country in international tournaments.

Manilla, Philippines --- Indonesia is managing its expectations in the 2017 SEABA Championships.

While all eyes are on Gilas Pilipinas to dominate the sub-regional joust, the Indonesians, one of the teams expected to give the Philippines a tough outing, are focusing on being sharp in preparation for another tournament that's coming later this year.

"We didn't have any preparation coming into this," admitted star point guard Mario Wuysang.

"Our focus is on the SEA Games really. We know Gilas is focusing on the FIBA and international championships, but our focus is the SEA Games and we're just trying to compete and improve," he added.

Despite little preparation, Indonesia had little trouble taking care of Singapore to open play at SEABA, scoring a rousing 71-50 win at the Araneta Coliseum here.

Wuysang in particular was sensational, outscoring the Singaporeans by himself in the first half on his way to a game-high 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting from deep.

Playing at the ripe age of 38, the former ABL champion and MVP says he's just happy to still be contributing for his country in international tournaments.

"I'm just blessed to be able to play at this age and I'm just going out there and compete," Wuysang said.

"I love the game and I know the Philippines, they love basketball. It’s kind of like home for me coming back here. I have so many friends here and people I grew up in the States, Fil-Ams. It’s always comfortable for me to play here," he added.
