Nguyen's double-double powers Vietnam past Myanmar

Nguyen was impressive in extended minutes, finishing with a 22-point, 15-rebound double-double in Vietnam's first win in the 2017 SEABA Championships.

The Vietnamese entered the win column of the 2017 SEABA Championships Sunday, cruising past a young Myanmar side, 77-44, at the Araneta Coliseum here.
After a sorry debut against Thailand Saturyda, it was a quick turnaround for Vietnam after setting the tone early vs. the unranked Burmese.
With Van Nguyen leading the charge, Vietnam went on a tear in the first period to take a commanding 24-7 leading before finishing things off with a fourth-quarter blitz for a 33-point victory.
Nguyen was impressive in extended minutes, finishing with a 22-point, 15-rebound double-double. Vu Tran added 18 points for the now 1-1 Vietnam.
Myanmar, coming off a 107-point beating at the hands of Gilas Pilipinas Friday, fared better this time around but it was not enough so save them from a 0-2 record.
Aung Wana was the shining star for the Burmese, finishing with a team-high 21 points and four rebounds. Han Thein was officially on quadruple-double watch after going for eight points, eight rebounds, seven steals, and five blocks.
