INTRODUCE YOURSELF. Mclaude Guadana is making the most out of his golden opportunity with Batang Gilas.
All eyes were still set on towering teen Kai Sotto on Day 2 of Batang Gilas’ campaign in the 2017 SEABA Under-16 Tournament.
Even Gilas Pilipinas themselves were witnesses to the awe-inspiring potential of the six-foot 11-inch 15-year-old.
For the second straight day, however, Sotto was not the most impressive player on the Philippine national youth team.
A day after Forthsky Padrigao introduced himself, it was Mclaude Guadana’s turn on Monday.
Recording an uncommon triple-double in the youth ranks of 19 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals, the pride of Lyceum of the Philippines University was the star of the Philippines’ 96-73 rout of Indonesia.
Still, Guadana remained modest about his feat. “’Di ko po in-expect na mag-triple-double ako, pero thankful ako kay Lord na binigyan niya ako ng talent,” he expressed.
Nonetheless, the 16-year-old is, without a doubt, making the most out of his opportunity of being in Batang Gilas. “Nagpapasalamat po ako na nakuha ako rito sa dinami-rami na mas mataas na team sa amin. Siyempre, yung Lyceum nagsisimula pa lang,” he said.
After all, it was an opportunity that he worked and worked for.
Guadana was the leading scorer for the Junior Pirates in the last NCAA Juniors season with 15.2 points along with 7.2 rebounds per game.
And after SEABA, the promising five-foot-11 swingman is nothing but looking forward to bringing his newfound experience back to Cavite. “Alam naman po namin na tataas din kami. Hard work lang po talaga,” he said.
