Manila, Philippines --- With Andray Blatche sitting out Gilas Pilipinas' matchup against Vietnam in the 2017 SEABA Championships, Raymond Almazan saw some extended court time at center.
The national team rookie made the most out of it, having himself a perfect game just a day after teammate Japeth Aguilar did the same.
Almazan scored 16 points against the Vietnamese Wednesday, shooting 7-of-7 from the field as Blatche sat out and Aguilar played limited minutes.
Despite his best game in a Pilipinas jersey, Almazan says it's just all part of the job as the national team looks forward to Indonesia for the SEABA title.
"Di ko na inintindi yun eh," he said of his perfect game. "Sa amin, para makapag-pahinga si Andray, layuan na namin. Para makapagpahinga na rin kami lahat."
"Kasi, game tomorrow, mabigat yung kalaban. We need to prepare early and then rest our body," Almazan added.
With head coach Chot Reyes looking to mix things up by trying out different combinations every know and then, Almazan points to the need to always be ready when called upon.
And as Blatche was not fielded in causing a change in the starting lineup and the main relievers, the Rain or Shine star's mentality paid off.
"Make the most out of it na pag ginagamit ka, bigay mo yung best mo," Almazan said.
"Samin, yung pansin ko, kailangan ready ka talaga kasi anytime bubunutin ka eh. Kailangan every game ready ka, kahit di ka gagamitin ni coach, kailangan ganun yung mentality mo," he added.
