Still, neither he nor Batang Gilas needed those to keep their slate spotless.

RC Calimag and Raf Go fired 20 points as the Philippines sank Hiran Boateng and Thailand, 113-46, on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Filipinos took care of business from the get-go and buried their opponents in a 30-point hole, 45-15, early in the second.

Team captain Padrigao was at the forefront of the attack once more and already tallied 11 points, seven steals, and six assists at the half.

He would only play three more minutes in the second half, however, to wind up with 13 points, eight assists, and eight steals.

Padrigao didn’t need to do anything more as Calimag and Go, both forwards, used this game to bust out.

More than his offense, Calimag also earned props for his defense on Thai-American Aaron Wadman. “Ang ganda ng defense natin, especially RC lalo (kay Wadman),” a satisfied head coach Mike Oliver said.

Batang Gilas now has convincing victories against Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand. They now move on to face fellow undefeated team Malaysia on Thursday.

There, the two teams will dispute the gold medal. “Basta tratrabahuin lang natin yung depensa,” Oliver said.

Still, they have the best chance for the bronze medal among the bottom three teams. They try to clinch it against Singapore also on Thursday.
