Manila, Philippines --- Eliminated by Gilas Pilipinas just the day before, Thailand had yet another quick turnaround to at least finish its 2017 SEABA campaign on a winning note.
Playing its sixth game in six days, the Thais scored a 67-57 decision against Singapore Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum here, wrapping up its stint in the regional showcase with a winning record.
Thailand ended up with a 4-2 mark, losing only to Indonesia and the Philippines, to finish third in a seven-team field. The Thais did not participate in the 2015 edition of the tournament after winning it all in 2013, although the Philippines skipped that one as well.
While the Singaporeans kept it close, Thailand was in control the whole way through less than 24 hours after absorbing a 55-point beating at the hands of the Philippines.
Shackled by the Filipino defense, Chitchai Ananti got his baskets against Singapore, leading the Thais in scoring with 17 points while Kannut Samerjai added 15. Patiphan Klahan meanwhile submitted a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double.
Singapore, who failed to win back-to-back games and dropped to 1-4, got 17 points from Larry Liew. Hanbin Ng and Delvin Goh had 10 apiece.
The Lion City will wrap up its SEABA stint Thursday against Vietnam.
