YOU'RE WELCOME. Gilas Pilipinas are nothing but appreciative of what Ultras Filipinas are doing.
Along with a lineup many are saying to be its most formidable in years, the Philippine national basketball team was lifted up in the 2017 SEABA Championship by a palpable homecourt advantage.
A palpable homecourt advantage brought about by perhaps the country’s biggest booster squad.
Ultras Filipinas, who have made a name for themselves by giving life to the Rizal Memorial Stadium and the Azkals who have made it their home, were at full force and in perfect attendance for all of the games of Gilas Pilipinas.
And from the start to the finish of the tournament, the Philippines’ representatives were nothing but grateful for the presence of their loudest supporters. “I love the Ultras Filipinas. At the start, we were even trying to control the sound system to cut off the music for their chanting,” head coach Chot Reyes said on Day 1.
He then continued, “It’s great to have them here.”
Gilas center June Mar Fajardo could do nothing but agree. “Grabe yung suporta nila. Siyempre, nakakagana para sa amin kasi binu-boost nila yung energy and kumpyansa namin,” he expressed.
And looking forward, Fajardo wants nothing more than for Ultras to keep doing what they’re doing. “Sana lang talaga, ipagpatuloy nila yung pagsuporta nila,” the gentle giant said.
