Indonesia challenges Gilas Pilipinas for SEABA gold
Armed with a complete lineup with Jamarr Johnson finally seeing action, the Indonesians are expected to give the Philippines its toughest challenge yet in the week-long regional showcase.

Finally, the time has come.

Sweeping its first five games, Indonesia will challenge Gilas Pilipinas for the 2017 SEABA Championship Thursday, with the winner advancing to the 2017 FIBA-Asia Cup later this year.

Armed with a complete lineup with Jamarr Johnson finally seeing action, the Indonesians are expected to give the Philippines its toughest challenge yet in the week-long regional showcase.

However, Gilas remains the overwhelming favorite in the 7:00 p.m. matchup at the Big Dome as the Filipinos have also swept their first five games by an average of 63.8 points.

An interesting sidenote to this game is the fact that Indonesia was the last team to beat the Philippines in SEABA play. The year was 1996 as the Indonesians beat the Filipinos in their home turf to win their one and only SEABA title.

The Philippines never lost after that, winning 35 straight games leading up to Thursday.

In the opening game of a triple header, Malaysia will play Myanmar at 3:00 p.m., while Vietnam will take on Singapore at 5:00 p.m.
