It might take a while before Marc Pingris returns to action for Star.

The veteran forward has missed the Hotshots' entire Commissioner's Cup campaign so far as he deals with a recurring hip injury.

Star head coach Chito Victolero revealed Wednesday that Ping is set to go to the US to seek treatment and the team is looking forward to seeing him back in action in tip for the mid-season playoffs.

However, nothing is set in stone yet and the Hotshots are in no rush when it comes to the 35-year-old former national team player.

"Yun ang target [playoffs] but wala pang definite," Victolero said on Pingris' timetable for a return.

"He will go to the States next week para mapatignan yung hips niya," Victolero added.

Even without Pingris, Star has put together a nice campaign in the Commissioner's Cup, going 6-2 with former import Tony Mitchell.

However, Pingris' continued absence forced the Hotshots to pull the trigger in replacing Mitchell with Ricardo Ratliffe who is more of an inside presence compared to the slam-dunking NBA vet.

"Yun talaga yung kailangan namin ngayon eh [inside presence]. Nakita niyo naman si Ping, siguro talaga di namin alam kung kelan makakabalik si Ping," Victoler said.

With an upcoming trip abroad for treatment, Victolero hopes that Pingris should at least be ready to go in practice once he comes back.

"[Tignan] kung pwede na siyang magsimula ng at least 5-on-5, court practice. Right now di pa siya kasama eh," Victolero said.
