THIS FOR THAT. Hamadou Laminou (red jersey with ball) will not be seeing action for the next six weeks.
Emilio Aguinaldo College’s campaign in the 2017 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament will be taking a big hit.
But it will be so that their much more important campaign in the NCAA Season 93 can be as strong as it can be.
The Generals will no longer be suiting up Cameroonian Hamadou Laminou for the preseason tournament. “Hindi na po siya maglalaro kasi meron siyang injury sa tuhod,” head coach Ariel Sison shared.
Laminou suffered the injury during their matchup with University of the Philippines last Friday. “Sabi niya, nadaganan daw siya at natuhod,” Sison said.
MRI results then revealed that he tore the MCL in his left knee and will need six weeks to recover.
At present, EAC stands at 2-3 and out of the top four in their group in the preseason tournament.
Even without the six-foot-10 center, the UN Avenue-based squad has vowed to keep fighting. As team captain Sidney Onwubere put it, “It’s all good. I’m sure the team will adjust and step up while Laminou is out.”
In the end, however, Sison made it clear that the Generals’ eyes are on the bigger picture. “Laminou just needs rest. Hopefully, makabalik na siya before NCAA,” he said.
The new season of the NCAA unfolds in early June. There, much improved EAC are hoping not only to make noise, but to make a breakthrough.
The development was first reported by Tiebreaker Times.
