Yap on coming up short on a big game: Akin yun, aakuin ko yun

James Yap was Big Game James for Rain or Shine against TNT until he wasn't.
TNT and Rain or Shine's wild game in Antipolo had all the ingredients for the perfect James Yap game.
It was a close affair and the former two-time league MVP was already rolling with 19 points, leading the Elasto Painters' attack after import Duke Crews was ejected in the third period.
All signs pointed to a perfect James Yap game after the kid from Escalante, Negros Occidental used move no. 186524 from his arsenal to complete an and-one play, tying the game against the KaTropa at 101-all with 1:04 to go.
That completed Rain or Shine's comeback from 16 points down and the champs had all momentum on their side.
That was also the last good thing that happened to Yap and the Elasto Painters at the Ynares Center.
With the game on the line, Yap missed three straight free throws and another two field goals that he would normally make. You know those one-handed floaters he's famous for? Yeah he missed two of those.
Despite a bum end to a 23-point outing, Yap owned to his late-game misses like only he could.
"Akin yun, aakuin ko game na yun," Yap said.
"Tinira ko naman nang maayos, shinut down ko distractions, yun nga miss lang talaga. Yung isa umalog, kasama sa laro yan eh miss talaga," he added.
With a blown opportunity to secure the no. 6 seed in the playoffs, Yap can only look back at what would have been.
However, there's no use to him sulking over what already happened. The focus now is the next round of Rain or Shine's title defense.
"Nanghihinayang pero wala na magagawa kumbaga kung pwede lang ibalik, eh nag miss," he said.
"Wala na akong magagawa nangyayari yan sa laro, aakuin ko game na yun and move on. Kalimutan mga nangyari," Yap added.
