Somebody give Justin Brownlee a box of Ginebra retro jerseys

Justin Brownlee sure appreciates the Gin Kings more now that he knows the significance of his team going retro by rocking a "great looking" jersey.
The whole point of Brgy. Ginebra going retro during Sunday's PBA Commissioner's Cup clash against Meralco was to honor the 1991 squad that won the PBA First Conference title.
That team was led by Robert Jaworski was coming back from 1-3 series deficits before coming back from 1-3 series deficits was cool.
26 years ago, Ginebra beat Formula Shell for the title, with the now infamous Rudy Distrito scoring the winner in the deciding seventh game.
Justin Brownlee, who also has a championship game winner under his belt for the barangay, didn't know all of that.
But he sure appreciates the Gin Kings more now that he knows the significance of his team going retro by rocking a "great looking" jersey.
"Really? Wow, that's impressive right there," Brownlee said after getting reminded of the feat the 1991 Ginebra team accomplished.
"I applaud them for that. Great history lesson I learned today," he added.
While Ginebra did have the last laugh in its retro night against Meralco, Brownlee uncharacteristically almost blew the win after missing two insurance free throws in the final seconds.
"Sometimes it happens. Of course I tried to make them, but i'm not perfect," he said after he shot bricks on two free throws with the Gin Kings only up by one.
Fortunately for him, a final play by Meralco went off as Chris Newsome's outlet pass to a streaking Cliff Hodge went a little too strong and caused a turnover.
"It seemed like he [Hodge] was pretty open. I think Newsome just overthrew it just a little bit. We were fortunate on that play," Brownlee said.
With Ginebra's retro night a success, albeit the wild finish, the prolific import now wants to get his hands on another set of the 1991-inspired kits.
"Unbelievable. I hope I could get my hands on mine. It's a great-looking jersey," he said.
