ON AND ON. Michael Calisaan and San Sebastian keep on impressing in the preseason.
Don’t look now, San Sebastian College-Recoletos is one of the top teams in the 2017 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.
On the back of another big-time outing from Michael Calisaan, the Golden Stags upended National University, 86-82, on Monday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
“This is good preparation for us. Tingin ko, paganda nang paganda tinatakbo namin,” head coach Egay Macaraya said as his boys rushed to their fourth consecutive victory following a tournament-opening loss.
Calisaan continued his stellar preseason with 22 points and nine rebounds in this one. Ryan Costelo also scored 16 points of his own for San Sebastian.
Still, the Golden Stags had to fight for the right to keep their streak going as the Bulldogs were on top by one entering the final frame.
It was at that point, however, that Calisaan got together with Jason David to front a 19-6 push that suddenly surged them ahead, 79-67, inside the last five minutes.
The double-digit advantage proved to be more than enough for the Recto-based squad. “A win is a win so thank you pa rin,” Macaraya said.
NU was paced by J-Jay Alejandro who had 20 points to his name. They drop their third loss in a row after a 3-0 start.
