The Bull Squad will head to the World Finals in Washington D.C.
A Pinoy contingent to the 2017 Red Bull Reign 3x3 basketball World Finals has finally been decided after the Bull Squad came out on top last May 27 at the Nagtahan Bridge Court in Manila.
Made up of Filipino-Canadian PBA hopefuls, Clay Crellin and Glenn Gravengard, Kitt Paolo Balmori, and Team Captain, Obinna Ezeike, the Bull Squad climbed upfrom the wild card round to eventually defeat Team Santa Rosa, 27-20 in the Final to earn the honor of representing the Philippines in the World Finals in Washington D.C.
Coming from the wild card round, or the "Last Chance Qualifiers", the Bull Squad has been balling since the morning of their championship.
Despite playing the Final at a physical disadvantage, the Bull Squad managed to dig deep and power through the semi-finals and finals in order to cement their place as the first-ever Red Bull Reign Philippine Champions.
“We were hungry”, said Gravengard. “We wanted it more.”
PBA veteran Vince Hizon served as director, overseeing each back-to-back match-up throughout the entire duration of the tournament. “This has been incredible. 3x3 is a great way for teams and individuals to really improve their skill and hone their craft. I’m happy for the Bull Squad, they really are the best team to represent the country at the World Finals,” he said.
The Philippine Champions had a simple message to send to their international competition.
“You better watch out, we’re coming!”
