Practice pays off for Lee after sinking a deep three in OT
"Kumpiyansa naman ako dun sa tira na yun kasi pina-pactice ko naman siya." --- Paul Lee on a clutch 35-foot three-pointer against Alaska in overtime.

Everybody went nuts Wednesday night after Paul Lee hit a booming three from the parking lot in Star's eventual 102-98 overtime win against the Alaska Aces.

Everybody went nuts except for Paul Lee.

Sinking a 35-foot clutch jumper like it was nothing, Lee revealed that he actually takes the time to practice such shots.

You know, just in case.

"Naka-focus lang ako sa game. Kumpiyansa naman ako dun sa tira na yun kasi pina-pactice ko naman siya," Lee said of his three that gave Star a 97-93 lead.

"Ginagawa ko naman sa practice yung mga ganun kasi may darating na time na ganyan, shot clock winding down, baka kailangan mo na talaga itira pag ganun. At least kahit papaano may pina-practice ka," he added.

As big as that shot was for Lee and Star, the Hotshots were still down with 51 seconds to go after Calvin Abueva willed the Aces to a one-point lead.

With the Beast looking to take over, Lee made things happen for Star, finding Justin Melton for, you guessed it, another three from the parking lot to seal the Hotshot's fifth straight win in the Commissioner's Cup.

"Stay together, Trust each other. Kasi end of the day naman kayo-kayo lang magkakasama. Tiwala kami sa isa't-isa," Lee said.

Coming back from 21 points down to deal Alaska a seventh straight loss, Star will enter the playoffs owning the league's best record at 9-2.

While they may not own a top-2 seed despite having the PBA's best record, taking a win like this one means that the Hotshots are oozing with confidence heading into the quarterfinals.

"Syempre mataas yung morale namin lalo na yung ganitong klase ng panalo. Kasi kanina na-test yung character namin eh. Yun malaking bagay talaga," Lee said whoo wound up with 18 points against Alaska, emerging as Star's top local.

"Basta kung sino yung samin na makakalaban namin [in the quarterfinals], yun ang paghahandaan namin," he added.
