The Aces had the chance to clinch the no. 6 spot Wednesday but lost to Star in overtime.
Globalport, after struggling all throught the mid-season joust, managed a revival after acquiring key pieces via trade. The Batanf Pier won back-to-back games to give themselves a chance to also clinch the no. 6 seed Friday but fel short against San Miguel Beer.
Both the Aces and the Batang Pier made the quarterfinals in the Philippine Cup but only one will get to move on this time around.
