San Beda College snatched its fourth win in as many games after surviving University of Perpetual Help, 64-61 in overtime, Friday in the FilOil Premier Cup at the Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Down four points with 18 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the Red Lions leaned on the heroics of Robert Bolick, who scored the last four points in regulation, including the put-back to tie the game at 55 with 0.8 seconds to go.

The Red Lions took control in overtime, scoring five straight points to break the dry spell, punctuated by a linedrive triple from Ben Adamos to give the Mendiola-based squad the 63-59 lead with under two minutes to go.

Wanting to end the Altas’ two-game losing skid, Daryl Singontiko broke away to score a layup in transition to cut the Red Lion’s lead to two, 63-61 with 19 seconds left in the extra period.

Bolick was fouled, and missed three free throws but drained the last one to put away the game for good, keeping San Beda’s clean 4-0 record intact.

Bolick finished with a team-high 12 markers and added eight rebounds to go with four assists to his tally while Arnaud Noah and Kemark Cariño chipped in 10 points apiece.

After going down 19-13 after the first frame, the Altas clamped down on defense to take the 30-28 lead over the Red Lions.

The second half proved to be an even closer affair, with the score tied at 41 by the end of the third.

Ahead by two, 55-53 with 12.3 seconds to go, the Altas had a chance to ice the game with a couple of free throws, but Flash Sadiwa missed both to leave the door open for the Red Lions’ comeback.

Singontiko led all scorers with 19 points, while Sadiwa and Prince Eze had 12 points each as Perpetual Help drop their third straight game for a 2-5 win-loss slate.

After barely escaping with the win, San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez knows the game wasn’t entirely in his boys’ hands the whole time. “If I’d be allowed to give that game, it should be to Perpetual. Perpetual deserves that game, we don’t deserve the game."

“We’re just lucky they missed their foul shots, we made our shots in the end of regulation,” Fernandez added.
