Ping still doubtful for Star as Hotshots prepare for mighty SMB

Marc Pingris hasn't played for Star since Game 7 of the Philippine Cup semifinals.
It's almost sure that Star will head to its Commissioner's Cup semifinal series against San Miguel without Marc Pingris.
However, the Hotshots might not only miss the veteran forward's on-court production but also his invaluable off-court presence as he continues to deal with a hip injury that sidelined him for the entire tournament so far.
Ping's schedule trip to get treatment has been pushed back and now, he might have to go away for a bit just as the no. 3 Hotshots prepare for the no. 2 Beermen in a best-of-5 affair with a Finals slot on the line.
"Tingin ko baka wala," head coach Chito Victolero said on Pingris' presence in the semifinals.
"Kasi kailangan pa niya umalis eh, so kung makaka-alis siya this week or next week, baka di na rin siya umabot," he added.
While Star has resigned to the fact that it might not see Pingris in uniform for a while, the Hotshots, particularly Victolero, still wishes that the veteran forward can make it back it time for him to at least watch the games live.
Pingris, after all, remains as the undisputed emotional leader of the team.
"Ang sabi ko lang naman kay Ping, kung sakaling makabalik siya ng mas maaga, mas maganda," Victolero said.
"Hindi man siya makalaro, at least nasa bench siya. Malaking tulong din yun lalo na yung leadership niya," he added.
