"Kung natalo kami, maghihintay na naman kami next conference. Nakakasawa na." --- Baser Amer after dropping a PBA career-high of 32 points to save Meralco from elimination.
Baser Amer's breakout conference just had its signature moment.
With Meralco's losing skid extending to the playoffs and already facing elimination against sister team TNT, Amer played the game of his life Wednesday, going for a career-high 32 points on top of six rebounds and four assists to spark the Bolts' Game 2 win over the KaTropa in the Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals.
And while Amer only managed two points in the final 10:50 of the game, including overtime, his work for three and a half quarters was enough to lead the Bolts to a series-tying win to force a final knockout game against TNT.
"Sabi ko sa kanila na kailangan magkaroon kami ng aggressive mentality from the start hanggang matapos, Amer said.
"Para din sakin, ayaw ko rin magbakasyon," he added.
Meralco narrowly-missed the Finals of the 2016 Commissioner's Cup and just fell short of a title in the 2016 Governors' Cup.
Those disappointments paired with the Bolts' continued Philippine Cup struggles and they're near-fatal losing skid this conference sure makes for a pretty frustrating experience.
And Amer, a proven winner when it comes to basketball, has had enough.
"Kung natalo kami, maghihintay na naman kami next conference. Nakakasawa na," he said.
"Gusto ko talaga, yung main target namin is makapunta ng semis then bahala na kung anong mangyari," Amer added.
