"He's the best Asian I ever played against. I played with some of the best players in the world in all different countries [and] he's definitely the best player I've ever played against in Asia." --- Ricardo Ratliffe on June Mar Fajardo.
June Mar Fajardo is the undisputed best player in the PBA today.
And if you ask Star import Ricardo Ratliffe, the reigning three-time league MVP might as well be the best player in all of Asia.
Ratliffe, whose Hotshots got eliminated by Fajardo's San Miguel Beer in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals on Friday, gave high praise on the Kraken, saying he's the best Asian player he's ever met.
"He's the best Asian I ever played against. I played with some of the best players in the world in all different countries [and] he's definitely the best player I've ever played against in Asia," Ratliffe said on Fajardo.
With tremendous respects towards Fajardo, Ratliffe says that June Mar's mobility for his size makes him truly special.
Special enough that he's looking forward to keep playing against Fajardo in the PBA or even in FIBA-sanctioned tournaments if reported plans of him being South Korea's naturalized player falls through.
"He's a great talent, huge individual. And he's very mobile for his size," Ratliffe said who has seen sharing fist bumps with Fajardo a couple of times during Friday's Game 4 at the MOA Arena.
"That's what I really respect about him, he's not just a big lazy guy. He can move, he can run up and down the courth, he's athletic. He does everything," he added.
After playing a tough series against Fajardo and the Beermen, Ratliffe is convinced that June Mar is not only the best player he's ever played against, but the Kraken can most definitely be considered as San Miguel's import.
"He's like an import. I think he's better than most imports that come here," Ratliffe said.
San Miguel's Commissioner's Cup reinforcement, Charles Rhodes, agrees on that sentiment.
"I agree with Ratliffe. He's [Fajardo] the best local player, big man that I've ever played with in my life. I'm just happy to be here and happy to complement him. We complement each other real good," he said.
