BELIEVE THE HYPE. Kobe Paras is showing off in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup for the Philippines. (FIBA)
For his sensational debut with a senior Philippine team, 19-year-old Kobe Paras was named Player of the Day by FIBA in the 2017 3x3 World Cup in France.
Starting off pool play Saturday [Sunday, PHL time], Kobe led the Philippines to a rousing win over Romania, 21-15.
Paras, who is now committed to CSUN after spending one US NCAA season with Creighton, came through in the clutch, scoring the country's last four points, including the game-winning free throws, to give the Philippines a fighting chance of moving on to the next round.
And while the Philippines dropped its second game of the day to hosts France, 11-22, the young rising star was still impressive, keeping the game close before the French eventually ran away in the end.
As it is, Paras' efforts has the Philippines sitting at third in Pool B behind France and Slovenia. Only the top-2 per group will move on.
