BPC race will not get in the way of Ross-Cabagnot duo
Both Cabagnot and Ross downplayed the possibility of either of them winning the BPC award as they would like to focus on winning the Commissioner's Cup title instead. However, both didn't deny that it would be pretty cool if they actually end up sharing the award.

During the second half of their respective PBA careers, Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross have done things together.

Sharing point guard duties for San Miguel, the Cabagnot-Ross combination helped the Beermen win four championships, establishing the franchise's most latest PBA dynasty.

And in the race for the Best Player of the Conference award in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup, both Cabagnot and Ross are still doing things as a tandem as the two floor generals ended up tied at no. 1 heading into the Finals.

In the latest rankings released by the league, Ross and Cabagnot shared first place after accumulating 34.125 statistical points each.

Both Cabagnot and Ross downplayed the possibility of either of them winning the BPC award as they would like to focus on winning the Commissioner's Cup title instead.

However, both didn't deny that it would be pretty cool if they actually end up sharing the award, which would a first in the history of the league.

"We want to get co-BPC," Ross said.

"If it's possible, we should get co-BPC. I don't know if there's ever been two teammates that have been tied in the statistical points at [number] one. But it would be cool if we get co-BPC. I'll be cool with that," he added.

"I hope that's possible, because you know, Chris and I have been doing our thing for a very long time, playing together. It's just an honor to be in this position," Cabagnot said.

With two players tied in a heated race for an individual award, it's only natural to assume that one would try to get over the other.

Not with Ross and Cabagnot. For the two San Miguel point guards, the BPC award is what it is. It's an individual award.

They're after team awards like the PBA Commissioner's Cup championship and the BPC race will never be a hindrance to their play.

"Never," Ross said if the BPC award will get in the way of his partnership with Cabagnot. "We're going out there winning a championship. That's the main goal. When you win a championship, everyone's happy.

Winning a title would certainly make everyone at the San Miguel happy. Another thing that will make them happy is knowing that the Best Player of the Conference will be a Beerman.

After Ross and Cabagnot, June Mar Fajardo is third in this conference's race.

"Individual honors [are] gonna come. Pero I mean I'm happy it's [BPC] gonna be with San Miguel. I think it's gonna be with San Miguel," Cabagnot said.
