Despite supreme confidence, SMB taking caution against TNT
Undefeated in their last four Finals appearances, there's no doubt that the Beermen are looking top extend that streak to five against TNT in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup. However, while San Miguel remains supremely confident and is installed as favorites, the team has an extra air of caution this time around.

Here's what you need to know about San Miguel Beer:

Since Leo Austria took over as head coach, the Beermen are undefeated in the PBA Finals.

Yes that's right, four Finals since 2015 and four championships. If you want to take out Austria's Beermen, please do so before the Finals. Because once San Miguel reaches the championship round, the team is taking that chip.

Well ah, the Beermen are back in the Finals again, this time in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup. Does that mean San Miguel will just roll to its second title this season?

That's the plan of course but this championship may be harder to win compared to the previous four Austria already won with the flagship SMC franchise.

"We're planning to extend that unbeaten record namin sa Finals, but it's not that easy considering our opponent is Talk 'N Text," Austria said, talking about the TNT KaTropa, the Beermen's lontime rivals and championship opponents for this conference.

While San Miguel remains as the favorite against the KaTropa in the Commissioner's Cup Finals, Austria's concern stems not only from the fact that both teams have an ongoing rivalry, on and off the court, but because the Beermen have been a big roadblock to TNT's path to a championship.

It's been two years since the flagship MVP franchise's last Finals and title and Austria is sure the team will be extra motivated to end that drought.

"They're out there to win a championship because it's been a long time for them," Austria said.

"At the same time, laging kami ang obstacle for them to get into the Finals dahil twice namin sila tinalo sa semifinals. I'm sure na it's always on their mind, and I'm sure that they will really prepare hard for this," he added.

In San Miguel's recent run to the Perpetual Trophy, the Beermen took out TNT twice in the semifinals, sweeping the Texters in 2015 before taking a seven-game victory just last conference.

Undefeated in their last four Finals appearances, there's no doubt that the Beermen are looking top extend that streak to five. However, while San Miguel remains supremely confident and is installed as favorites, the team has an extra air of caution this time around.

"Every team naman is trying to catch up to what we achieved in the last three seasons," Austria said.

"We're flattered and confident -- morale-booster para samin yung eh, na kumpiyansa sila na mananalo kami," Austria added regarding their status as favorites. "For the fact na we're hearing those kind of analysis from those people, it gives us a lot of confidence eh."

Game 1 of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals between San Miguel and TNT will be on June 21 at the Araneta Coliseum.
