Clash of the Titans as SMB and TNT start Finals series
No. 2 San Miguel Beer and no. 4 TNT will start their 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup championship series Wednesday, with the Beermen looking to win their second straight title this season while the KaTropa are aiming for their first championship in two years.

For the first time in six years, the flagshig SMC franchise will face off against the flagship MVP franchise with a PBA title on the line.

No. 2 San Miguel Beer and no. 4 TNT will start their 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup championship series Wednesday, with the Beermen looking to win their second straight title this season while the KaTropa are aiming for their first championship in two years.

After blasting Phoenix in the quarterfinals and taking care of Star in the semis, San Miguel finally made it to its first Commissioner's Cup Finals in 16 years.

The reigning thee-time Philippine Cup champs obviously doesn't want to waste this golden opportunity as a win will not only give the franchise a 24th PBA title, but a championship victory in the mid-season conference means that the Beermen can finally stake their claim for a Grand Slam.

On the other side, the KaTropa had to claw their way against Meralco and Ginebra to reach this stage, the team's first Finals appearance since they won the same tournament back in 2015.

This will be the fourth time in history that San Miguel and TNT will meet in the PBA Finals with the Beermen holding a 2-1 edge.

The last time they met for a title was in 2011 when the Beermen, then known as Petron Blaze beat the Texters in seven games for the 2011 Governors' Cup, denying TNT of a Grand Slam.

Game 1 of the best-of-7 will tip off at 7:00 p.m. live from the Big Dome.
