"I put a ring on it too quick."
After mistakenly marrying Kiefer Ravena and Alyssa Valdez two days ago, FIBA's lead commentator for its 2017 3x3 World Cup livestream was quick to acknowledge his slight mishap.
With the Philippines resuming pool play against no. 2 Slovenia on Tuesday [Wednesday, PHL time], Kyle Montgomery, FIBA's play-by-play guy on Youtube took the time first to apologize for his mistake.
"Let me clear something up before we even get going here. I said that Kiefer Ravena was married to Alyssa Valdez, the wonderful volleyball player. Hey, your 3x3 announcer made a mistake, I put a ring on it too quick," Montgomery said at the start of the broadcast for the Philippines-Slovenia match.
The Filipinos ended up dropping that one, 14-21, despite Ravena's best game of the tournament so far.
"My bad, my bad. Hey, Kiefer Ravena's dad, I'm sorry if I got your heart beating fast thinking your son was married too quick. I put a ring on it too quick. They are a very good looking couple, and a very populuar couple. And who knows what the future may hold," he added before calling the game again.
See Alyfinity? It was an honest mistake. It's all good, right?
Now back to some 3x3 basketball because ball is life.
