Fajardo had the unfortunate honor of being the one that couldn't stop Smith's game-winning hook shot that gave TNT an early 1-0 lead in the Finals.
He may be the reigning three-time league MVP and the undisputed best big man in the land but June Mar Fajardo got a close look on just how imposing Joshua Smith can be for TNT.
In Game 1 of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals Wednesday, the entire San Miguel frontline had trouble with the KaTropa's 6'10", 300-pound import.
None had more trouble than Fajardo who had the unfortunate honor of being the one that couldn't stop Smith's game-winning hook shot that gave TNT an early 1-0 lead in the Finals.
Fajardo, who is no slouch on defense, admits that Smith is a different beast altogether unlike any he's faced before.
"Sobrang laki niya, mabigat siya. Yung hook shot niya, magaling din eh," Fajardo said of Smith.
"Pinakamabigat, kita naman eh sobrang bigat niya," he added. "Kailangan mag-adjust paano siya i-stop."
Taking an early hit, the focus for San Miguel now is to bounce back to even the series at one game each.
As for Smith, Fajardo says they will figure something out.
"Siguro," Fajardo said on the possibility of sending double teams on Smith. "Siguro magpo-provide ng help pero tignan natin."
"Pahinga muna tapos practice tapos bounce back," he added.
