THERAPY. Aldin Ayo has one surefire remedy for gloomy days.
In the last three years, Aldin Ayo does not have a lot to complain about – on the basketball court, at the very least.
The 2015 champion coach in the NCAA and the 2016 champion coach in the UAAP has proven himself, in his young coaching career, as a winner.
As it turns out, however, there remain days which can bring down the multi-titled mentor. “Kami ni Jom (Sollano), may common denominator kami na every time nade-depress kami, isa lang ginagawa namin – pinapanood lang namin yung Game 3 against San Beda,” he shared with reporters on Friday.
Ayo was referring to Game 3 of the NCAA Finals which saw him and Colegio de San Juan de Letran topple the Red Lions and take home the championship.
“Sinasabi ni Jom, ‘Coach, medyo nawalan ako ng kumpyansa e.’ Sasagutin ko naman siya, ‘Ano gagawin mo?’” He then continued, “Tapos sasabihin naman niya, ‘Coach, nanonood ako ng Game 3 natin. Okay na ulit ako.’”
Just for good measure, the now De La Salle University head coach furthered, “Isa lang ginagawa namin – pinapanood namin yung Game 1 tsaka yung Game 3. Siyempre, ayaw namin panoorin yung Game 2.”
He also added, “Siguro, mga isang libong beses na namin pinapanood yung Game 1 at Game 3 na yun.”
Back in 2015, the Knights won Game 1 before dropping Game 2 to San Beda.
In the end, however, Ayo’s Letran came out on top after a Game 3 win that put the finishing touches on their magical season.
And while he’s already far from Intramuros and is now in Taft Avenue, the now 39-year-old said that magical season has stayed and will always stay with him. As he put it, “If there’s one thing na hindi mawawala, yung 2015 team na yun, special yun. Nawala ako, may mga nawalang mga player, pero yung 2015 na yun, ibang klase yun.”
He then continued, “Yung shared moments na grabe sinakripisyo namin tapos naging successful kami, hindi mawawala.”
