Beermen take another convincing win over TNT for 2-1 lead
Winner of back-to-back games in the best-of-7 series, San Miguel took a 2-1 series lead over the KaTropa and is two wins away from a second straight title this season.

Another emotional game, another convincing win for San Miguel.

The Beermen took control of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, scoring a 109-97 victory over TNT in Game 3 at the Araneta Coliseum Sunday.

Winner of back-to-back games in the best-of-7 series, San Miguel took a 2-1 series lead over the KaTropa and is two wins away from a second straight title this season.

"Thank you so much to the Almighty God, this is a hard-fought game," a relieved head coach Leo Austria said.

"I think what happened to the game is we did not have any major adjustment [from Game 2], we just kept our intensity high," he added.

Just like in Game 2, San Miguel flipped the switch in the second half, outscoring TNT by 13 points to take the upper hand in the titular showdown.

Alex Cabagnot led the charge for the Beermen in the third period, scoring 11 points as San Miguel turned a one-point deficit to an eight-point lead heading in the last 12 minutes.

Chris Ross then finished the job in the fourth, dropping nine markers to seal the win for SMB.

With series control hanging in the balance, Cabagnot played his finest game of these Finals, finishing with 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for a near triple-double.

Import Charles Rhodes, who celebrated his birthday, added 25 points and 20 rebounds. Ross collected 17 markers, five assists, and four steals.

The first half of Game 3 was as close as it could get with the KaTropa taking a slim 47-46 lead at the break.

Emotions were still running high from Game 2 and the first two quarters of Game 3 were marred by a couple of incidents, none bigger that the one involving TNT's two reserve imports and San Miguel assistant Boycie Zamar at halftime.

Fortunately, things did not escalate further as both teams retreated to their respective locker rooms.

RR Garcia and import Joshua Smith both came off the bench to lead the KaTropa in scoring, finishing with 19 and 18 points repectively.

Jayson Castro added 17 but the Blur's performance was ruined after turning the ball over 10 times.

Game 4 is set for Wednesday.
