Happy Birthday sir Charles!
After turning into a "defensive demon" in Game 2, Charles Rhodes was back to his usual self in Game 3 of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals.
Celebrating his birthday and with his mother and wife watching live at the Big Dome, Rhodes played his best game of these Finals, dropping 25 points and grabbing 20 rebounds in the Beermen's convincing 109-97 victory for a 2-1 series lead.
Considering he got those numbers while still being heavily-focused on defense, it was a pretty impressive performance for Rhodes.
"I was still on defense, that's my focus for this series," Rhodes said.
"But I got a couple of shots to go [in], a couple of mismatches. It just fell that way," he added after shooting 58.8 percent from the field in 34 minutes.
Flying in his mother and wife to watch the games live, Rhodes took pleasure in giving a tremendous show for his family and his team's fans.
It was the first time his mom watched him play live in a foreign league and a couple of thunderous dunks highlighted his tremendous performance.
"It's great man, words can't really describe it," Rhodes said of his mother and wife's presence.
"I need to put on a better show you know, but it was a good show today. As long as we got the win, that's all that I care about," he added.
Halfway through his first pro title, Rhodes remains locked in o nthe task at hand. He knows he and the Beermen can't let their guards down against TNT.
"We gotta take it one game at a time. It's a seven-game series. That's a great team over there so we gotta take every game, one at a time, one at a time," he said.
