If Alex Cabagnot had his way, he and Chris Ross will share the BPC award for the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Best Player of the Conference for the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup will be crowned Wednesday, and based from the latest tally released by the league, San Miguel teammates Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross are on track to finish the closest race ever in the history of the award.
Or if you look at it another way, the two San Miguel point guards are on track to share the award.
For Cabagnot, he prefers the latter option because not only does it say so much about their team altogether, them sharing the BPC award would also be the first time ever in history.
"I wish we both win. I think that's never happened. Chris and I would love to share something... it's good for our careers but it's jsut indicative for our friendship and our samahan that we share something like this," Cabagnot said.
"It would be awesome but I don't know how it works," he added.
Part of the tabulation for the BPC award is the players' accumulated statistical points. Based on that, both Ross and Cabagnot are literally tied, something that almost never happens especially once the PBA playoffs roll out.
From what it looks like, votes from fellow players, the media, and the Commissioner's office will ultimately decide the outcome because when it comes to stats, Ross and Cabagnot are dead even.
And with the winner to be announce before Game 4 Wednesday, Cabagnot made one final case during Game 3 fof the Finals against TNT, dropping 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
"Those are the same shots that's presentable to me. Not every night you score 28 points or something but hopefully, the little things that help the team, you know the little things that you do -- rebounds, try to make steals and play defense and hopefully the shot goes in. Pero not every night you score 28 something points," Cabagnot said.
