In helping the San Miguel Beermen end a longstanding playoff curse in the Commissioner's Cup, Charles Rhodes earned himself a Best Import award Thursday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Rhodes earned a total of 1174 points to win the award, beating Star's Ricardo Ratliffe (943 points), Ginebra's Justin Brownlee (706 points), and TNT's Joshua Smith (536 points).

Despite finishing third among the finalists in terms of stats, Rhodes was first in terms of media and PBA votes. The towering San Miguel import finished second to Smith in player votes.

Rhodes averaged 27.3 points and 10.1 rebounds for San Miguel through the semis, helping the Beermen make the Commissioner's Cup Finals for the first time in 16 years.

Playing in his first ever pro finals, Rhodes also has the Beermen up against TNT in the Commissioner's Cup Finals. His 25 points and 20 rebounds in Game 3 helped San Miguel take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Rhodes is the first San Miguel import to win the award since Gabe Freeman during the 2010 Fiest Conference.
