A couple of weeks ago, Fil-German Christian Standhardinger was just added to the Gilas Pilipinas pool.
Now, the 6'7" swingman will be part of the Philippine team that will compete in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
So who in the world is Christian Standhardinger again?
Born in Munich, the 27-year-old Standhardinger played five seasons in the US NCAA, suiting up for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2009-2011 and the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 2012-2014.
He went for 14.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game in college.
Now playing in the second division of Basketball Bundesliga, Standhardinger is set to join Gilas practice Wednesday after arriving in the country late Tuesday night.
And for those who may have doubts on the relatively unknown Standhardinger, get rid of those doubts already because the guy is legit.
National team head coach Chot Reyes said so himself.
"We've seen him a lot, ilang beses na siya nagpunta dito. We've seen him live, not with this [Gilas] group yet but you know, we know how he plays," Reyes said.
"We've been monitoring him plus we've actually seen him live already," he added.
Standhardinger adds size to the Gilas Pilipinas team set for the SEA Games that already includes Kobe Paras, Kiefer Ravena, and Ray Parks.
Completing the team are Kevin Ferrer, Baser Amer, Mike Tolomia, Almond Vosotros, Von Pessumal, Raymar Jose, Carl Bryan Cruz, and Troy Rosario.
