Mike Myers set to reinforce Gilas Pilipinas in 2017 Jones Cup

After considering Joshua Smith and Ricardo Ratliffe, Gilas Pilipinas will go with Mike Myers in the 2017 Jones Cup.
If he ultimately does not play for TNT in the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup, Mike Myers will still get to see some action.
In fact, he's going to don the Pilipinas jersey as the 6'8" forward will reinforce Gilas Pilipinas for the upcoming Jones Cup in Taipei.
Head coach Chot Reyes confirmed Myers' participation in the annual tournament in Taiwan set for late July after the national team wrapped up practice Tuesday at the Meralco Gym.
While Myers was already in consideration after he joined training last week, Reyes went all-in with TNT's standby import after a couple of options didn't exactly work out.
"We're pretty set with Mike, he's already agreed," Reyes said.
"We wanted [current TNT import] Joshua Smith but his injury prevents that from happening. Guys like [Ricardo} Ratliffe want to rest. I don't know if we can get him but at least for the Jones Cup he wants to rest first," he added.
Ratliffe, who has been eyed by South Korea to be its naturalized player, just recently finished his second tour of duty with the Star Hotshots.
Myers, who made it known last week that he's game to joing Gilas Pilipinas in any capacity, has been a regular in training as he continues to wait if he'll play in the ongoing Commissioner's Cup Finals.
But with him already in the Jones Cup lineup, Myers will only have to wait on the players that will join him in Taiwan.
Reyes will take some more time before revealing the final roster although the preliminary lineup is already set.
"We like Mike's attitude," Reyes said of the 6'8" Myers.
"He might not be the most talented, but the important thing is he's willing to work with the young guys. He's gonna work with us as well," he added.
