Well the PBA came through less than 24 hours later, slapping Smith with a P30,000 fine for "issuing statements detrimental to the league."

Smith made his comments after Game 5 of the 2017 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals against San Miguel. The KaTropa lost that game, 102-111, and now trail the best-of-7 series, 2-3.

From a casual fan's point of view, the game went relatively smooth compared to the prevous four games of the series. However, one quick look at the numbers and it will show that TNT was called for nine more fouls and shot 17 less free throws compared to San Miguel.

Head coach Nash Racela declined to comment on the officiating and instead said that his team with have to limit the Beermen's free throws for Game 6, a must win for the KaTropa.

TNT and San Miguel will meet again Sunday with the Beermen looking to win a second straight title this season while the KaTropa are out to force a Game 7.
